Hi there, I’m Rob, a software engineer based in wild west Cornwall.

I help organisations create engaging digital experiences and robust software products.

My current specialism is building performant, accessible web sites and scalable backends using full-stack Javascript, however my experience extends to many tools and languages. I strive for elegant, idiomatic code, while being keenly aware of the need to balance craft, time and the bottom line.

Over the last 20 years I have worked with some amazing folks at the BBC, Cabinet Office, Royal Household, Channel 4 and Virgin. Recent roles of note include Technical Lead at Gendal Design in Falmouth and Staff Engineer at Netlify in San Francisco.

Skills

Ethos

Communication and empathy are the core of great software development.

Software is typically developed for people, with people, to create a human experience. I aim to use discussion and understanding to ensure the right features get built and the resulting code is easy to maintain for future developers.

My goal is to create a competitive advantage for my clients by delivering a high quality product and a remarkable user experience. I try to work smarter, not harder, using modern platforms and best practices to deliver reliable, thorough work in good time.
